Wall Street Poet
Michael Silverstein's
Satirical Verse |
|
|

"Nowadays, you can't turn on the TV without some talking head telling you about the economy. Yet, in a world overrun by 'analysts,' only one man has the guts, the brains, and, quite frankly, the poetry to put it all in perspective.That man is Michael Silverstein... Silverstein is a true intellectual." — Gersh Kuntzman, The New York Post
"Few people have found much to laugh about in the stock market this year. Michael Silverstein is the exception. The Bard of the Bourse can find humor in losing money, globalization and stock options." — USA Today

Hugger-in-Chief
White House aspirants finly see
What to others has long been clear,
Though terror is still a worry,
What Americans really fear,
Is the rising cost of basics,
And jobs that are drifting away,
And nasty calls from creditors
Who threaten to garnish their pay.
Alas theres no easy solutions
That can turn this mess around,
Make a badly skewed economy
More equitable, more sound;
The simple truth of the matter,
Though few will dare say it aloud,
Is the rich will keep glomming to excess
With the help of the K Street crowd.
What then must the 08 winner
Use for solace in his or her reign?
Not new programs, that menu is tapped out
But a show of just sharing the pain;
When you cant fill the down troddens pockets,
With a speech give their tear ducts a tug;
When confronted with stories of hardship
Give the teller a comforting hug.
