Wall Street Poet
Michael Silverstein's
Satirical Verse |
|
|

"Nowadays, you can't turn on the TV without some talking head telling you about the economy. Yet, in a world overrun by 'analysts,' only one man has the guts, the brains, and, quite frankly, the poetry to put it all in perspective. That man is Michael Silverstein... Silverstein is a true intellectual." — Gersh Kuntzman, The New York Post
"Few people have found much to laugh about in the stock market this year. Michael Silverstein is the exception. The Bard of the Bourse can find humor in losing money, globalization and stock options." — USA Today

Nothing is so powerful in present-day Washington as a bad idea whose time has come. Take, for example, the just enacted tax cut packagedescribed here in a poem written in the style of Joyce Kilmers Trees.
Oh, Please...
Were told this new tax cut will ease
The present economic squeeze.
The flood of jobs it will create
Will cut the unemployment rate.
More dividends will make us flush
And fresh investment will then gush.
The bulls on Wall Street will take heed
Therell be a huge bull rush stampede.
New deficits of monstrous size
Will not cause intrest rates to rise.
Congress loves a tax cut tease
Economists just moan: Oh, please...
